Class Description

Following the Florida B.E.S.T Standards for English Language Arts, students are immersed in engaging texts that spark curiosity and critical thinking. Through discussions, collaborative projects, and exposure to high-quality literature, students engage in critical analysis of complex texts, fostering a strong foundation in reading and language skills.

All students are taught English Language Arts in a small group environment at their functioning level. This is developed for students with skill gaps by scaffolding and differentiating the curriculum. ELA encompasses a major component in writing skills, including editing and grammar skills, along with classical literature and novels. Students receive one-on-one or small group tutoring to assist in mastering elementary skills because of reading deficits rather than being left behind or passed through because of age or other “safe harbor” requirements.
